Production Operations5

Runs the shop floor day to day: production control and execution, repetitive manufacturing, kanban, outsourced manufacturing via subcontracting and external processing, and Just-In-Time supply to customers.

Capabilities
  • KanbanControls production and material flow through consumption signals: replenishment triggers automatically when a container empties, minimizing manual postings and cutting lead times and stock levels compared with card-only kanban.
  • Control cycle maintenanceDefines the link between demand source and supply source, including material quantity per kanban, replenishment logic, production call profiles, and packing instructions.
  • Kanban status change (Confirmation)Drives replenishment through status changes — empty triggers resupply, full posts the goods receipt — with optional intermediate statuses for tracking work progress.
  • Monitoring with the kanban boardGives supply and demand sources a live overview of circulating kanbans, with drill-down detail and direct status changes from the board.
  • Cost accounting for KanbanSettles in-house kanban production costs either periodically via product cost collectors or to individual orders, with actual costs updated by goods movements, confirmations, or G/L postings.

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Warehouse Management FAQ

How do you create a storage location in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud?

A storage location is a sub-division of a plant used to track inventory at a more granular level, configured through master-data setup rather than custom code. Public Cloud's warehouse capability is basic — it covers storage location and stock-tracking scenarios well, but complex slotting, task interleaving or wave picking typically needs a dedicated WMS or Private Cloud's stronger warehouse module.
