ERPNext Asset Management FAQ

Does ERPNext track fixed assets?

Yes. ERPNext manages the fixed-asset lifecycle from acquisition and capitalization through depreciation, movement, repair, and disposal, acquired through the normal procurement flow and capitalized onto the balance sheet.

Can ERPNext calculate depreciation automatically?

Yes. ERPNext runs a scheduled write-down of an asset's value over its useful life and posts the depreciation entry to the ledger automatically each period, rather than requiring a manual journal entry.

Does ERPNext track asset movement between locations?

Yes. ERPNext tracks the physical relocation of assets between locations or employees, so you can see where an asset currently sits and its movement history.

Can ERPNext schedule asset maintenance tasks?

Yes. ERPNext schedules maintenance tasks and repairs against a tracked asset, alongside the movement history, so upkeep isn't managed on a separate spreadsheet outside the asset record.
