Overview
Workday Benefits is the benefits administration capability embedded within Workday Human Capital Management. Rather than a bolt-on module, it runs on the same object model as Workday's core employee data, so eligibility rules, life events and enrollment decisions are driven directly by HR records (job changes, new hires, terminations) without a separate data feed.
The product covers the full benefits lifecycle: plan and eligibility configuration, guided open enrollment, new-hire and passive enrollment, life-event-triggered changes, and ACA eligibility tracking and IRS reporting (1094-C/1095-C). Employees compare plans, see costs, and complete enrollment tasks from desktop or the Workday mobile app.
On the connectivity side, Workday Cloud Connect for Benefits provides more than 300 prebuilt integrations to insurance carriers and other benefits providers, using ANSI X12 834 and LIMRA Data Exchange templates, so elections and coverage changes are transmitted via EDI without custom-built interfaces. Because it sits inside Workday HCM, Benefits also shares data natively with Workday Payroll (for deduction calculation) and Workday Financials/Prism Analytics for reporting, rather than requiring a separate ERP integration.
