Overview
Fathom is a financial reporting, analysis and forecasting platform that sits on top of an existing accounting system rather than replacing it. It pulls data from QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB, Sage Business Cloud Accounting or FreeAgent via automated daily sync (or from Excel/Google Sheets for systems without a direct connector) and turns it into management reports, KPI dashboards, and driver-based cash flow forecasts. It is aimed at three groups: small and medium businesses monitoring their own performance, accounting and bookkeeping firms delivering advisory reporting to clients, and franchises or multi-entity groups consolidating results across locations.
The product is organised around four areas: management reporting (a report editor with a content library of charts, tables and financial-statement blocks, scheduled/branded report delivery, and an AI Commentary Writer that drafts narrative text tied back to the underlying numbers), analysis (50+ pre-built financial KPIs plus custom KPI formulas, trend/variance/profitability analysis, and side-by-side company comparison and ranking), three-way forecasting (driver-based and rolling forecasts covering P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, scenario/what-if modelling, and a visual "Business Roadmap" for planned events), and consolidation (aggregating up to 300 entities, including entities on different accounting systems, into one multi-currency group report with eliminations and adjustments).
Fathom also sells a separate "Portfolio" product aimed at accounting and bookkeeping firms, giving them a single dashboard to monitor a book of client companies against a small set of shared metrics. Fathom is owned by The Access Group, a UK-headquartered business software company; its own product and brand continue to operate under the fathomhq.com domain.
