Overview
IBM Process Mining is a process intelligence platform that converts business-system data into what IBM calls a "process digital twin" -- a data-driven model of how workflows actually execute, as opposed to how they are designed. It ingests event-log and business-object data through file upload, database extraction, real-time streaming, or scheduled cloud-storage retrieval, then applies AI-driven (IBM's term is "prescriptive") analysis to surface bottlenecks, deviations and improvement opportunities across ERP, CRM and other core systems.
Beyond process discovery and conformance checking, the platform includes a conversational AI assistant (Process Advisor) for non-technical users, predictive what-if simulation, object-centric multi-process mining that links related business objects (orders, invoices, deliveries) across up to five interconnected processes, segregation-of-duties and compliance monitoring, and an Action Hub that can trigger corrective actions -- such as KPI alerts or overdue-invoice payment workflows -- when defined business logic is met. A separate but integrated companion module, IBM Task Mining, captures desktop-level user activity and is bundled into the same administration console and pricing tiers.
IBM sells IBM Process Mining as either an AWS-hosted SaaS subscription or a self-managed on-premises deployment on Red Hat OpenShift, with published starting prices for both and a 30-day free trial. IBM was named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Process Mining.
