Bracknell, United Kingdom

Birchman is a UK founded business transformation and IT consultancy specialising in SAP and ERP solutions. We're a Global SAP Platinum Partner and the primary UK member of United VARs, the world's largest alliance of SAP solution providers, giving us access to local expertise and delivery capability in 80+ countries. We help organisations plan, migrate to and thrive on SAP Cloud ERP (S/4HANA), whether that's moving off legacy ECC6, running a phased cloud migration or optimising an existing SAP landscape. Our services cover the full transformation lifecycle: strategy and target operating model design, ERP implementation, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, application development, and IT governance. We back this with industry specific accelerator packages for Mining, CPG, and Professional Services, drawing on 20+ years of sector experience. Over that time, we've built a reputation not just for delivering transformation projects but for steadying them. Brought in when a project needs a safe pair of hands to see it through to a successful outcome. It's why so many customers trust us with their most critical digital transformation and SAP work. We measure our success by our customers', helping them get the most out of their SAP investment, not just at go-live but for years afterwards. Our Application Management Services and ongoing consultancy keep that relationship going, with continuous improvement built in as standard. We're big enough to lead complex, global transformation projects and boutique enough to still care about every client we work with.

Hyderabad, India

TEKROI Private Limited is a Hyderabad-based SAP Business One partner operating under SAP PartnerEdge (Sell & Service). Founded in 2020 by Venkata Siva Reddy Polu and Anitha Vennapusa, the firm rests on a founding team whose first SAP Business One go-lives date back to 2005 — more than 20 years of practice and over 350 implementations delivered across roughly 30 countries, spanning India, Nepal, East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the UK and Europe, and the Americas. A team of 60+ consultants, developers and support engineers works from the company's Innovation Hub in Bowenpally, Hyderabad, with a second office in Kathmandu, Nepal. Bourbon Corporation

More than 30 siloed scratch-built and packaged systemsSAP S/4HANA (RISE with SAP)

add on customisations

Challenge: Bourbon ran more than 30 separately optimised systems, producing scattered and duplicated data, slow access to management information, rising maintenance load and limited ability to respond to business change. End of support for several systems forced a decision, and the company also wanted a platform that would extend to overseas entities.

Solution: Hitachi Systems implemented SAP S/4HANA under RISE with SAP as a clean-core, fit-to-standard programme, running 13 assessment sessions on standard functionality and placing SAP consultants across sales, purchasing, production and accounting. Where Japanese food-industry practices could not be met by standard functions, existing systems were retained and integrated rather than modifying SAP.

Results: Hitachi Systems reports add-ons and customisations were held to about 30, against what it describes as several hundred for comparable food manufacturers. Bourbon rebuilt its bill of materials at finer granularity to support product-level actual costing, and the customer reports clearer departmental ownership of processes and data.

Implementation ran from January 2022 for roughly 2 years and 9 months, finishing about 6 months later than originally planned.

overseas shipping effort saved

Challenge: Optex operated three domestic and 14 overseas subsidiaries, each on its own core system, so processes diverged and overseas shipping and consolidated group reporting were inefficient. An earlier SAP Business One rollout at overseas subsidiaries left spreadsheet and manual steps in place.

Solution: Hitachi Systems built a five-year, five-step plan starting with FI and CO at the Japanese head office to surface consolidated management information early, then SD and MM, a global template, and phased overseas rollouts from 2020. When COVID-19 travel restrictions blocked on-site work, template build and fit-to-standard process redesign were brought forward.

Results: The partner reports 1,250 hours a year saved in overseas shipping work by eliminating manual and duplicate entry, and a 25% increase in revenue per indirect-function employee. Group consolidated revenue rose about 16% between end-2017 and end-2022 while indirect headcount growth was contained, and group-wide sales trends moved from a monthly report to real-time visibility in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Five-year, five-step rollout decided in 2017; live at 16 sites in 8 countries as of November 2023.

migration rehearsals

Challenge: Nippon Tungsten faced end of support for SAP ECC 6.0 at the end of 2027 and wanted the business impact, cost and duration of moving to S/4HANA established before committing. Replacing SAP with another ERP was considered but judged too costly and technically risky.

Solution: Hitachi Systems ran an assessment first to fix cost and schedule, then executed a standardised, templated migration performed almost entirely remotely. Rebuilding the existing development environment to resemble the target production environment allowed the usual two migration rehearsals to be cut to one, and the SAP estate was moved to AWS at the same time.

Results: The migration ran about 10 months to a January 2024 go-live. Some defects appeared immediately after cutover but declined from the second month onward; certain add-ons were reworked and now perform better than before the migration, and the AWS move is credited with reducing platform-driven system replacement risk.

About 10 months of migration work, with cutover over the new-year break and go-live in January 2024.

SAP ECC 6.0SAP S/4HANA on Amazon Web Services

about 1 year

project duration

reduced from about 1.5 days to 5-6 hours

development client copy time

Challenge: Growing data volumes had pushed SAP ECC 6.0 past its processing and capacity limits, causing overnight batch delays and slow daytime response. Hardware depreciation completing in 2024 and the 2027 end of ECC 6.0 support set the timing, and the company had suffered serious business disruption during its previous system migration.

Solution: Hitachi Systems performed a straight conversion from ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA with a parallel move to AWS, explicitly prioritising continuity over redesign. Cutover was scheduled during the summer shutdown, some peripheral system work was completed in advance, and database read methods for slow transactions were optimised for S/4HANA.

Results: Overnight batch processing fell from about three hours to about one hour, and swapping the verification and production environments fell from about a day and a half to five or six hours. The customer reports smoother daytime data processing and positions the migration as the first step toward a data lake and analytics platform.

July 2023 to August 2024 across planning, design and development, and test-migration phases, with cutover during the summer shutdown.
