Birchman

Bracknell, United Kingdom

Birchman is a UK founded business transformation and IT consultancy specialising in SAP and ERP solutions. We're a Global SAP Platinum Partner and the primary UK member of United VARs, the world's largest alliance of SAP solution providers, giving us access to local expertise and delivery capability in 80+ countries. We help organisations plan, migrate to and thrive on SAP Cloud ERP (S/4HANA), whether that's moving off legacy ECC6, running a phased cloud migration or optimising an existing SAP landscape. Our services cover the full transformation lifecycle: strategy and target operating model design, ERP implementation, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, application development, and IT governance. We back this with industry specific accelerator packages for Mining, CPG, and Professional Services, drawing on 20+ years of sector experience. Over that time, we've built a reputation not just for delivering transformation projects but for steadying them. Brought in when a project needs a safe pair of hands to see it through to a successful outcome. It's why so many customers trust us with their most critical digital transformation and SAP work. We measure our success by our customers', helping them get the most out of their SAP investment, not just at go-live but for years afterwards. Our Application Management Services and ongoing consultancy keep that relationship going, with continuous improvement built in as standard. We're big enough to lead complex, global transformation projects and boutique enough to still care about every client we work with.

A team of 60+ consultants, developers and support engineers works from the company's Innovation Hub in Bowenpally, Hyderabad, with a second office in Kathmandu, Nepal. on premises cost baseline

Challenge: Gulf Medical Company ran SAP S/4HANA on ageing on-premises servers where adding a feature or server could take up to three months and maintenance costs were rising. A new S/4HANA release requiring higher-specification hardware forced a decision, and the migration had to happen with minimal downtime across 15 branches.

Solution: Altivate migrated the SAP estate from an on-premises data centre to AWS and upgraded S/4HANA from version 18 to version 20, using AWS Launch Wizard to provision SAP S/4HANA, HANA disaster recovery, HANA Studio and system copy. AWS Backint Agent was used for HANA backup and restore, and SAP Analytics Cloud was deployed alongside.

Results: The customer states AWS is projected to cost 40% less than the $2 million on-premises spend over five years, that a full environment can now be launched in 15 days or less rather than three months, and that uptime moved from around 90% to 99%. Sandbox server costs also fell.

Planning and preparation took 2 months before the migration and upgrade were executed.15 branches rely on the SAP system users

Challenge: Farabi ran SAP S/4HANA 1610 on 2016-era on-premise HANA and needed to move to a cloud private edition release under a compressed timeline. The page lists cross-application and third-party integration rework, large-scale data migration, attachment migration and database size as the main technical obstacles.

Solution: Altivate ran a system conversion to SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2023 with embedded Fiori, including code remediation and custom object adjustment. Integrations were rebuilt from SAP MII onto SAP Cloud Platform Integration, attachments were moved to BTP Document Management Service, and single sign-on was configured across Fiori, SuccessFactors and SAP GUI.

Results: Altivate reports the upgrade, migration and conversion completed in 5 months with a 65% reduction in database size, and that the environment is now compatible with SAP Ariba, Master Data Governance and SAP Analytics Cloud. Performance and stability improvements are described qualitatively.

Project started 27 April 2025 and went live 16 November 2025 - described on the page as 5 months.
With our digital foundation now in the cloud, we are positioned to accelerate capabilities across supply chain, data governance, analytics, mobility, and AI. The road ahead will be faster and more ambitious, because the groundwork is finally in place.

Challenge: GPS ran manual, spreadsheet- and paper-based processes with siloed data and duplicate entry across departments. The partner cites slow approvals, delayed financial reporting, payroll errors, limited workforce visibility and compliance risk under Saudi ZATCA tax rules.

Solution: Altivate implemented SAP S/4HANA for the financial and operational core, followed by SAP SuccessFactors for HR. Delivery used a joint PMO with weekly steering committees, and the final costing run validated every product cost in SAP.

Results: The partner reports month-end closing fell from days to hours with fewer manual errors, and that more than 1,000 employees now use a mobile HR self-service portal with payroll and talent management automated. Paperless workflows and lower IT maintenance costs are described without figures.
