Inventory and demand planning software for Sage forecasts demand, sets reorder points and safety stock, and recommends purchase orders based on Sage's sales and inventory history. Sage's ERP products hold reorder levels and produce basic replenishment suggestions, but do not forecast statistically or optimise stock across the trade-off between service level and working capital.
| Product | Best for | Pricing | Deployment |
|---|---|---|---|
| SMB / Mid-market | Subscription; consultative pricing scaled by GMV and replenishable SKU count | Cloud | |
| SMB / Mid-market | Mid-market band; comparable SMB planning tools $15,000-$50,000/year | Cloud | |
| Mid-market / Enterprise | $1,000/month (per Capterra listing) | Cloud |
For Sage's distribution and manufacturing customers, inventory is usually the largest number on the balance sheet and the least scientifically managed. Sage products will reorder against a min-max level someone set years ago; they will not tell you that demand for an item has shifted, that safety stock is funding a service level nobody asked for, or that a supplier's lead time has quietly doubled.
The tools below are pitched at exactly this mid-market gap, and they are notably more affordable and faster to deploy than the enterprise planning platforms that dominate the Oracle and SAP comparisons. Deployment measured in weeks and pricing measured in hundreds per month make the business case straightforward when excess and obsolete stock is material.
Sage's ERP products maintain stock levels, reorder points and minimum and maximum quantities, generate replenishment suggestions from those static parameters, and report stock movement history. Sage X3 offers stronger MRP capability than the mid-market products for manufacturers. What none of them do is statistical forecasting from demand history, seasonality and trend detection, safety-stock calculation from demand and lead-time variability, service-level optimisation, or surplus and obsolete stock identification. Those parameters are set manually in Sage and, in practice, are rarely revisited once entered — which is where the money leaks.

Vendors in this category publish too little pricing detail for us to quote a range. These are the questions that decide what you end up paying.
0 of the 3 vendors we track in this category publish no list price at all.
List the specific demand & supply planning outcomes you need — volumes, workflows, countries, systems in the loop — and rank them. Vendor demos are optimised to reframe your requirements around their strengths; a written list keeps the evaluation yours.
Every vendor here “integrates with Sage” — the differences are in depth. Ask each to demo the integration against a realistic Sage configuration: your entity structure, your fields, your transaction volumes, and what happens when a sync fails.
Look for Sage Marketplace listing / Sage Technology Partner status and a current listing on the Sage Marketplace. Certification doesn't guarantee fit, but it confirms the vendor keeps pace with Sage releases — uncertified integrations are where upgrade breakage concentrates.
Ask for two reference customers on Sage at your size and in your industry, and ask them what broke in the first year. Implementation quality varies more than product quality in the demand & supply planning category.
Compare subscription plus implementation plus internal effort — not headline price. Sage inventory planning software pricing models differ (per user, per volume, per entity), so normalise every quote to your actual usage before comparing.
Reorder points that recalculate themselves from actual demand and lead-time variability rather than sitting at whatever value was entered when the item was created. The measurable results are usually simultaneous — lower total stock and fewer stockouts — because static parameters typically overstock predictable items while understocking volatile ones. Both errors coexist in most Sage inventories, which is why the improvement can look implausible until you see it.
They read item master, sales history, stock levels, open purchase orders and supplier lead times from Sage, then write back recommended purchase orders or updated planning parameters. Integration depends on your Sage product. Data quality determines results more than algorithm choice: inaccurate lead times or stock records produce confident, wrong recommendations, so budget time for cleaning both before go-live rather than after.
Frequently yes, and more often than for the enterprise equivalents. These platforms are priced for the mid-market and deploy in weeks rather than quarters. The test is simple: if you carry more than a few hundred SKUs and can identify meaningful excess or obsolete stock alongside recurring stockouts, the working-capital release usually pays for the subscription several times over within the first year.
