Overview

Adyen is a Dutch financial technology company that provides a single platform for accepting and processing payments across online, mobile and in-person (point-of-sale) channels. Founded in 2006 and listed on Euronext Amsterdam since its 2018 IPO, Adyen holds banking licences in the US, UK and EU, letting it act as both a payment gateway and the acquiring bank on a single technical connection rather than stitching together a gateway, processor and acquirer from separate vendors.

The platform supports 200+ local payment methods and 150+ currencies through one API, and bundles risk management (Revenue Protect fraud screening, dynamic 3D Secure 2), tokenization, and reporting with the core processing engine. For merchants running ERP or commerce back offices, Adyen publishes its own bundle for Oracle NetSuite (payments, tokenization, Pay by Link and settlement reconciliation) and, with partners, a Dynamics 365 Commerce payment connector and a Salesforce Commerce Cloud / Order Management integration.

Adyen targets mid-market and large enterprise merchants with omnichannel or multi-market operations -- retailers, hospitality and F&B chains, marketplaces/platforms, and digital/subscription businesses -- rather than very small merchants, and prices per transaction with no published monthly, setup or integration fees.
