Overview

Vena Solutions is a Microsoft-native financial planning and analysis (FP&A) platform that runs on top of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Teams and PowerPoint rather than replacing them with a standalone interface. Its proprietary CubeFLEX database blends a relational (OLTP) store with an in-memory OLAP engine engineered specifically for Excel-scale planning models, letting finance teams build budgets, forecasts and reports inside familiar spreadsheet templates while keeping data centralised and governed.

The platform covers core FP&A functions -- budgeting, rolling forecasts, what-if scenario modeling, cash flow planning, workforce planning and CapEx planning -- alongside financial close management, multi-entity consolidation, account reconciliation and tax provisioning. Reporting and analysis are extended through Vena Insights (embedded Power BI dashboards) and Vena for PowerPoint (data-linked presentations), and an agentic AI layer, Vena Copilot, adds natural-language planning, reporting and analytics agents grounded by a context engine called Vena Omega.

Vena documents native or prebuilt connectors to ERPs including NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Finance, SAP, Acumatica, QuickBooks and Xero, plus CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), HRIS (Workday, ADP, Dayforce, BambooHR) and cloud data warehouse connectors (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric/OneLake). The company is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, with additional offices in the United States, United Kingdom and India, reports more than 2,000 customers worldwide, and expanded its platform through two 2026 acquisitions: Acterys, a Power BI-based operational planning tool (completed March 2026), and Morpheo AI, an agentic data platform (agreement announced July 2026).

Vena reports year-one costs of $75,000 to $250,000, working out around $450 per user per month at typical scale. Like Datarails it is Excel-native — finance keeps working in spreadsheets with Vena providing the database, workflow and audit trail behind them — but it sits materially higher in price and capability, with genuine consolidation and workflow depth. The implementation is a real project, unlike lighter Excel overlays, and should be budgeted as such. Get an independent shortlist with pricing guidance below.
