Overview
Microsoft Sustainability Manager is an ESG data management and reporting application built on Microsoft Dataverse and the Power Platform, sold as part of the Microsoft for Sustainability portfolio. It unifies emissions, energy, water and waste data from across an organization's systems into a single Microsoft for Sustainability data model, automating the calculations and removing the data ambiguity that comes from tracking sustainability metrics in spreadsheets across business units.
The product covers three broad jobs: recording activity data (via Excel templates, a guided Power Query import flow, first-party data-provider connectors, or manual entry), calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions plus water and waste metrics against built-in government emission-factor libraries, and reporting the results through embedded Power BI dashboards, a quantitative preparation report, and (since a recent update) social-and-governance metric tracking alongside the existing environmental data. A Premium plan adds a Power Pages supplier portal for collecting Scope 3 value-chain and product-carbon-footprint data directly from suppliers, EcoVadis ratings integration, dynamic/static emissions allocation, carbon-fee modeling, and a preview Copilot for natural-language queries.
