Overview

Normative is a Stockholm-founded carbon accounting platform that helps organisations calculate, report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3. Founded in 2014 by Kristian Ronn, Adam Wamai Egesa and Robin Undall-Behrend, the company built what it describes as one of the first automated carbon accounting engines, and has since expanded into product-level carbon footprinting, supplier engagement and EU-regulation-specific reporting (CSRD, CBAM, SECR). It is aimed at mid-market and enterprise organisations, particularly those facing EU sustainability disclosure requirements or pursuing Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation.

The platform ingests activity and spend data via templates, direct system exports or API, then uses an AI-assisted matching engine to map that data against a database of more than 349,000 emission factors drawn from 18 scientific sources, calculating emissions in line with the GHG Protocol. Every customer account is paired with a named Climate Strategy Advisor (one of a team of GHG Protocol-certified advisors), and Normative reports a 100% SBTi submission approval rate across its client base. Its emissions calculation methodology has been independently assessed by TUV SUD.

Beyond core carbon accounting, Normative offers a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) tool for item-level footprints from bill-of-materials or spend data, a Carbon Network for collecting verified emissions data directly from suppliers, and purpose-built reporting flows for CSRD (ESRS 2/E/S/G disclosures), UK SECR, and EU CBAM. Normative does not publish named, certified connectors to specific ERP systems; data is brought in through CSV/template upload, direct exports, or its API rather than a marketplace-listed ERP integration.
