Overview

Evisort is an AI-powered contract lifecycle management (CLM) and contract intelligence platform, founded in 2016 by Jerry Ting, Amine Anoun and Jake Sussman, who met at Harvard Law School and MIT. Evisort's machine learning models were trained to automatically extract clauses, terms, obligations and metadata from contracts and related documents, turning static legal text into structured, searchable business data. The company raised more than $150 million in venture funding and built a customer base that included Microsoft, BNY Mellon, NetApp, Vonage and Keller Williams before being acquired by Workday in September 2024.

Since the acquisition, Evisort's technology has been rebranded and folded into Workday's product line as Workday Contract Intelligence and Workday Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), both "powered by Evisort AI." The evisort.com domain now redirects to Workday's contract management product pages. The platform covers the full contract lifecycle -- generation, drafting and redlining, negotiation, approval routing and e-signature, through to obligation tracking, renewal management and post-signature analytics -- and adds an "Ask AI" natural-language interface that lets users query contract repositories directly and get answers with source citations.

Workday positions Contract Intelligence and CLM as tools for legal, procurement, finance, sales, HR and M&A teams that need visibility into contract terms, obligations and risk across large repositories, and reports results such as a 21-day average deployment, up to 70% reduction in outside legal spend, and 65% reduction in contract execution time for customers.

Common use cases

  • Letting legal teams ask natural-language questions across thousands of contracts instead of manually searching documents
  • Giving sales teams contract status and terms visibility directly from Salesforce
  • Tracking renewal dates and auto-renewal clauses across a large contract portfolio to avoid missed deadlines
  • Accelerating contract drafting and redlining with AI-generated clause suggestions
  • Auditing vendor and supplier agreements for non-standard or high-risk terms
  • Routing contracts through configurable multi-department approval workflows before signature
  • Consolidating contracts scattered across SharePoint, Box and Google Drive into one searchable repository

Strengths & considerations

Strengths

  • Backed by Workday's platform and go-to-market since the September 2024 acquisition, giving it direct distribution into Workday's existing enterprise customer base
  • One of the earlier AI/ML-native CLM providers, with models trained specifically for contract clause and obligation extraction rather than generic document AI
  • "Ask AI" natural-language interface returns sourced answers from within contract text rather than just keyword search results
  • Recognized as a Visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for CLM

Evisort is reported at $30,000 to over $150,000 a year depending on contract volume and modules. It was acquired by Workday, which matters commercially: the roadmap and integration story now centre on Workday's suite, and buyers already on Workday should expect a different conversation than standalone prospects. Its original strength is AI contract analysis over an existing repository, so it is often bought to make sense of legacy contracts rather than to author new ones.
