Overview
TIBCO EBX is a master data management (MDM) platform, now part of Cloud Software Group following TIBCO's 2022 acquisition by Vista Equity Partners and subsequent merger with Citrix's parent. EBX takes a multidomain approach, letting organizations model, master, and govern any type of business data -- customer, product, location, supplier, financial, or regulatory reference data -- within a single configurable application rather than separate domain-specific tools.
The platform is built around a "what-you-model-is-what-you-get" data modeling engine: business or IT users define data models and the application (forms, workflows, validation rules) is generated directly from that model. EBX layers workflow-driven governance, role-based data ownership, hierarchy and taxonomy management, and data quality controls on top of the model, so non-technical stewards can review and approve changes to master records.
EBX is available as an on-premises deployment and as TIBCO Cloud EBX, a SaaS version launched in 2022. It is positioned as vendor- and industry-agnostic, with named use in financial services, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy, retail, and government, and is used alongside ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle to serve as the system of record for shared master data that multiple applications consume.

Common use cases
- Establishing a single system of record for customer, product or supplier master data shared across ERP and CRM systems
- Governing product and reference data (classifications, hierarchies) that feeds SAP or Oracle ERP modules
- Running approval workflows so business stewards, not IT, review and sign off on master data changes
- Managing regulatory reference data and hierarchies for compliance in pharma, financial services or energy
- Consolidating data from multiple ERP instances after M&A into one governed master data hub
- Feeding clean, deduplicated customer and vendor records into downstream analytics and finance systems
- Managing metadata and dimensions for Oracle Hyperion EPM via a dedicated EBX add-on
Strengths & considerations
Strengths
- Multidomain, model-driven architecture that generates the governance application directly from the data model rather than requiring separate tools per domain
- 20+ years of MDM market presence with both on-premises and SaaS (TIBCO Cloud EBX) deployment options
- Industry-agnostic and ERP-agnostic design intended to sit as a neutral master data layer above SAP, Oracle and other systems
- Business-user-facing workflow and self-service model that shifts data stewardship away from pure IT ownership
ERP integrations
TIBCO-published add-on for managing Oracle Hyperion EPM metadata (dimensions and hierarchies). Broader Oracle ERP integration is via generic REST/SOAP data services, not a certified connector.
No packaged SAP connector is publicly documented; integrations with SAP ECC/CRM have been implemented by SAP architects and partners using EBX's data services and Java API.
Connector details independently verified against vendor marketplaces and documentation; last checked 2026-08-11.
Pricing
TIBCO does not publish list pricing for EBX. Licensing has historically included perpetual and subscription options, plus a SaaS (TIBCO Cloud EBX) model; cost depends on deployment type, number of domains/instances and users, with annual fees covering upgrades and support. Alternatives to TIBCO EBX in Master Data Management
TIBCO EBX — frequently asked questions
Does TIBCO EBX integrate with SAP?
TIBCO EBX does not ship a packaged, officially certified SAP connector, but it integrates with SAP systems such as SAP ECC and SAP CRM through its REST/SOAP data services and Java API. Organizations and SAP integration partners have built custom EBX-to-SAP integrations to synchronize master data such as customer and product records.
Does TIBCO EBX integrate with Oracle?
Yes. TIBCO publishes an EBX add-on specifically for managing Oracle Hyperion EPM metadata (dimensions and hierarchies), and broader Oracle ERP integrations are built using EBX's REST/SOAP data services and Java API.
How is TIBCO EBX priced?
TIBCO EBX pricing is quote-based and not publicly listed. It depends on the deployment model (on-premises perpetual/subscription license vs. TIBCO Cloud EBX SaaS), the number of domains and instances, and user counts, with an annual fee covering upgrades and support.
Is TIBCO EBX available in the cloud?
Yes. Alongside the on-premises product, TIBCO offers TIBCO Cloud EBX, a SaaS version of the platform launched in 2022 that delivers the same multidomain MDM capabilities without customers managing their own infrastructure.
