Founded in 2013 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Tamr grew out of research by Turing Award-winning MIT computer scientist Michael Stonebraker and entrepreneur Andy Palmer, applying machine learning-based entity resolution rather than purely rules-based matching to identify and merge duplicate or fragmented records across systems.
