Overview

OneStream is a corporate performance management (CPM) platform built by OneStream Software, founded in 2012 and headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan. The company went public on the Nasdaq (ticker: OS) in July 2024. OneStream reports serving more than 1,900 customers, including roughly 21% of the Fortune 500, across around 45 countries.

The platform unifies financial close and consolidation, tax provision, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and reporting on a single extensible data model rather than as separate connected products. Close and consolidation functionality covers global consolidations, intercompany eliminations, currency translation and AI-assisted account reconciliation; FP&A covers top-down, bottom-up, driver-based and zero-based budgeting plus rolling forecasts and scenario modeling; and a dedicated tax provision module automates effective-tax-rate reporting and disclosure workflows alongside the corporate close. A no-code, plug-and-play architecture called Genesis lets customers extend the same platform into adjacent domains, such as workforce, sales, capital or ESG planning, using prebuilt solution blocks rather than custom development.

Data connects into OneStream through prebuilt Integration Connectors: the vendor documents direct-connect integration with more than 250 ERP, HCM and CRM systems, including SAP (S/4HANA and ECC), Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics and Workday, using built-in RPA-based loading with drill-back to source transactions. OneStream is delivered as a single-tenant managed cloud service hosted on Microsoft Azure, and also offers a packaged CPM Express edition aimed at mid-market companies (roughly $200M-$1B in revenue) with a fixed-scope, 8-12 week implementation.

Common use cases

  • Consolidating financials across many legal entities and currencies for a multinational close
  • Running AI-assisted account reconciliations to shorten close cycles and flag anomalies before audit
  • Building driver-based, top-down and bottom-up budgets and rolling forecasts on the same data model as actuals
  • Automating effective-tax-rate reporting and disclosures alongside the corporate close
  • Connecting SAP, Oracle or NetSuite trial balances directly into consolidation with drill-back to source transactions
  • Extending planning into workforce, sales or capital domains without standing up separate point solutions
  • Replacing a legacy or sunset CPM tool (e.g. Hyperion, Cognos TM1) with a single unified platform

Strengths & considerations

Strengths

  • Single extensible platform (close, consolidation, planning, reporting and tax) built on one unified data model rather than bolted-together modules
  • Genesis no-code architecture lets customers assemble new financial or operational models from prebuilt solution blocks without custom coding
  • Broad native connectivity: 250+ prebuilt GL/ERP/HCM/CRM connectors with RPA-based direct connect and drill-back to source transactions
  • Packaged CPM Express edition brings the platform to mid-market companies ($200M-$1B revenue) on a fixed-scope, 8-12 week deployment
  • Publicly traded (NASDAQ: OS) since July 2024 with disclosed financials and an enterprise-scale customer base

OneStream sits firmly at the enterprise end, with reported pricing from around $200,000 a year and large deployments exceeding $1,000,000. It is a unified corporate performance management platform rather than a close tool, covering consolidation, planning, reporting and close in one model — which is why the price sits an order of magnitude above point solutions like FloQast or Adra.
