NetSuite Consulting Services: What They Cost & How to Choose the Right Partner

Last reviewed: July 23, 2026

A vendor-neutral guide to NetSuite consulting services — what they include, typical day rates by provider tier, and how to choose the right consulting partner.

Updated July 2026. ERP Research is vendor-neutral. We are not a NetSuite reseller, we do not implement NetSuite, and we take no commission on the consulting firms discussed below. The rates and guidance on this page are drawn from what buyers and partners in our directory report paying and charging across the NetSuite ecosystem, and are presented as typical market ranges rather than quotes.

What is NetSuite consulting?

NetSuite consulting is the professional-services work that surrounds the NetSuite software subscription: configuring the system to an organisation's processes, migrating data, building customisations and integrations, training users, and supporting the platform after go-live. It is bought separately from the licence, usually from an Oracle-accredited partner or an independent consultant.

That distinction matters more than most buyers realise. The NetSuite subscription is a fixed, negotiable line item. The consulting spend around it is where programmes overrun, and it is typically the larger of the two numbers in year one.

What do NetSuite consulting services include?

"NetSuite consulting" is an umbrella term covering six fairly distinct service types. Most firms sell several of them, but very few are genuinely strong at all six — which is why buyers often end up with more than one provider over the life of the system.

Service typeWhat's includedWhen you need it
ImplementationRequirements workshops, chart of accounts design, core configuration, testing, go-live cutoverNew NetSuite deployment, or a re-implementation after a failed first attempt
Customisation / SuiteScriptCustom records, workflows, SuiteScript development, SuiteFlow automation, custom forms and rolesWhen standard NetSuite cannot support a genuinely differentiating process
Data migrationExtraction from legacy systems, cleansing, mapping, load, reconciliation of opening balancesEvery implementation; complexity scales with the age and state of the legacy data
IntegrationsConnecting NetSuite to ecommerce, CRM, WMS, payroll, banking or EDI via SuiteTalk, REST or middlewareWhen NetSuite is not the only system of record in the process chain
Training and change managementRole-based user training, super-user enablement, process documentation, adoption supportBefore go-live, and again 3–6 months after, when workarounds start creeping in
Managed services / optimisationPost-go-live support desk, release-upgrade regression testing, enhancement backlog delivery, licence and process reviewsAfter go-live, when you need NetSuite maintained but do not want to hire in-house

The last row is the one most buyers under-plan. Implementation ends; NetSuite does not. Oracle pushes two major releases a year, and someone has to test your customisations against them.

How much does NetSuite consulting cost?

There is no NetSuite rate card. What a consultant charges is driven by four things: their provider tier, whether the resource is onshore or offshore, their functional specialism, and how scarce that specialism is at the moment you ask. The ranges below are typical of the current UK market and should be used to sanity-check a quote, not to price a programme.

Provider tierTypical UK day rateTypical engagementTrade-off
Independent consultant~£450–£900Short remediation, admin cover, ad-hoc SuiteScript, backfill for a departed administratorCheapest and most flexible, but no bench — if they are unavailable, you stop
Offshore / nearshore delivery team~£250–£500Development, data migration, testing, managed-service ticketsMaterially cheaper per day, but adds timezone lag and needs a strong onshore lead to be productive
Boutique NetSuite partner~£900–£1,600Full mid-market implementations, industry-specific builds, ongoing optimisationThe sweet spot for most SME and mid-market buyers; deep NetSuite skills, limited capacity
National SI / large partner~£1,200–£2,200Multi-entity, multi-country, OneWorld rolloutsReal bench and methodology, but you may be sold the A-team and delivered the B-team
Big Four / global consultancy~£1,800–£5,000+Complex global programmes, heavy compliance, transformation-led workBrand, assurance and audit-adjacent credibility, at a multiple of the rate

A few patterns worth knowing before you negotiate:

  • Blended rates hide the mix. A firm quoting a single blended rate is averaging a partner-grade rate against an offshore developer. Ask for the rate card by role, and the percentage of days each role will bill.
  • Fixed-price is not risk-free. Fixed-price implementations price the risk in — and then price change requests aggressively. Time-and-materials with a capped estimate and a named change-control process is usually the more honest structure.
  • The all-in programme number is what matters. Consulting rates only tell you half the story. For the total picture, including subscription, module and user fees, see our NetSuite pricing and costs breakdown. For methodology and timeline, see our NetSuite implementation guide.

Alliance Partner vs Solution Provider: which do you need?

Oracle accredits two partner types, and they sell different things. Buyers routinely approach the wrong one.

NetSuite Solution Providers resell the NetSuite licence and implement it. You buy the software through them. They are incentivised on the subscription as well as the services, which means they can sometimes flex on one to win the other — useful leverage, but also a reason to negotiate the licence and the services separately rather than as one bundled number.

NetSuite Alliance Partners do not resell the licence. They implement, extend and support NetSuite only; you buy the subscription direct from Oracle. Because their entire revenue is services, they tend to specialise hard — by industry, by module, or by the kind of complex work that generalists avoid.

Independent consultants sit outside both programmes. They are the right call for narrow, well-defined work — a SuiteScript fix, an admin gap, a health check on a bad implementation — and the wrong call for a full implementation, because a single person has no bench and no escalation path.

A practical rule: if you have not yet bought NetSuite, talk to Solution Providers and price the licence against a direct Oracle quote. If you already own NetSuite and need work done on it, Alliance Partners and independents are your market.

How to choose a NetSuite consulting partner

Every firm on the results page will tell you they are certified, experienced and client-obsessed. Certification is table stakes — it filters out almost nobody. These are the questions that actually separate them.

  1. Industry experience, specifically. Not "we serve manufacturers" but "show us three NetSuite builds in discrete manufacturing with lot traceability, and let us speak to one of them." Ask for references at organisations of your size and complexity, not their largest logo.
  2. A named-resource clause. The single most common failure mode in ERP services is the bait-and-switch: senior consultants sell the deal, juniors deliver it. Get the named individuals into the statement of work, with a clause that substitutions require your written approval.
  3. Their configuration-vs-customisation philosophy. Ask directly: "What would make you tell us not to customise?" A good partner pushes back on customisation because they will be the ones regression-testing it through two Oracle releases a year. A firm that says yes to everything is selling you days.
  4. IP ownership of custom SuiteScript. Get it in writing that you own the code written for you, and that you receive the source. Some firms retain ownership and licence it back, which quietly locks you in — you cannot take the work to another partner.
  5. The post-go-live support model. Ask what happens on day 31. Is there a managed-services contract, what are its response SLAs, who staffs it, and is it the same team that built the system or a different desk that has never seen your configuration?
  6. How they price change. Scope will change. Agree the change-control mechanism, the rate applied to it, and the approval threshold before you sign — not in month four when the pressure is on.
  7. Their exit. A partner confident in their work will happily explain how they hand over to your internal team. One that cannot describe a handover is planning to be permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a NetSuite consultant cost per day in the UK?

UK NetSuite consultants typically bill between £450 and £900 per day as independents, £900 to £1,600 per day at boutique NetSuite partners, and £1,800 to £5,000 or more per day at Big Four and global consultancies. Offshore and nearshore delivery resources generally fall between £250 and £500 per day. The rate is driven by provider tier, location, seniority and how scarce the specific skill is — a SuiteCommerce or OneWorld tax specialist commands a premium over a generalist functional consultant.

Should I hire an onshore or offshore NetSuite consultant?

Offshore consultants can cost 50–70% less per day, which makes them well suited to development, data migration, testing and routine managed-service tickets — work that is well specified and verifiable. Onshore consultants are worth the premium for requirements workshops, process design, stakeholder management and go-live support, where timezone overlap and business-context fluency determine whether the work lands. Most successful programmes blend the two, with an onshore lead who owns the design and an offshore team that builds to it. A fully offshore implementation with no onshore lead is where the savings usually evaporate.

What is included in NetSuite managed services after go-live?

NetSuite managed services typically cover a support desk for user issues, administration of roles, forms and permissions, regression testing of your customisations against Oracle's two annual releases, delivery of a rolling enhancement backlog, and periodic reviews of licence usage and process health. They are usually sold as a monthly retainer with a bundled day allowance and defined response SLAs. The main reason buyers take one is that the alternative — hiring a full-time NetSuite administrator — is hard to recruit for and leaves you exposed when that single person leaves.

Is SuiteSuccess right for a complex NetSuite implementation?

SuiteSuccess is Oracle's pre-configured, industry-templated implementation approach, and it is genuinely effective where your processes are close to the template: a straightforward organisation, standard financials, limited integration. It gets you live faster and cheaper. It becomes a poor fit when you have multi-entity or multi-country consolidation, heavy custom process, deep integration requirements, or unusual industry compliance — at that point you are paying for a template and then paying again to unwind it. Ask the partner to be explicit about which parts of your scope fall outside the template before you commit.

Who owns the IP on custom SuiteScript a consultant writes for us?

It depends entirely on your contract, and the default in many partner agreements is not what buyers assume. Some firms assign ownership of bespoke code to the client; others retain ownership and grant a licence to use it, which means you cannot hand the code to a different partner or maintain it yourself. Negotiate this before signing: ask for written assignment of the custom code created for you, delivery of the source, and documentation sufficient for another consultant to maintain it. If a partner resists, treat that as a lock-in signal.

How many NetSuite consulting companies are there?

Oracle's NetSuite partner ecosystem runs to roughly a thousand accredited Solution Providers and Alliance Partners worldwide, plus a much larger and uncounted population of independent consultants and offshore development shops. Oracle does not publish a complete, searchable list of the ecosystem. Our NetSuite partner directory is a curated, vendor-neutral index of NetSuite consulting firms and consultants that can be filtered by capability, location and company size.

Do I need a NetSuite consultant at all?

For a small, single-entity organisation running standard financials on a SuiteSuccess template, a competent internal finance lead with vendor support can sometimes get live without a consulting partner. Beyond that — multiple entities, inventory, revenue recognition, integrations, or any material customisation — attempting a self-implementation is where most failed NetSuite programmes begin. A more realistic middle path is to buy a smaller, tightly scoped consulting engagement to design the chart of accounts and the core configuration correctly, and to own the rest internally.
