John Hannan LLC is an independent, vendor-neutral ERP selection consultancy for manufacturers, distributors and life sciences companies with $25 million or more in revenue. We do not sell, resell or implement software and take no referral fees, so the recommendation is the client’s alone. A selection program runs 12 to 20 weeks from kickoff to a signed contract - requirements written with your business-process owners, an RFP that asks every vendor the same questions, scripted demonstrations run with your data in the same order for every finalist, a weighted scorecard with a five-year cost comparison, reference checks, the implementation partner chosen as its own decision, and the software contract and statement of work negotiated before you sign. Companies not ready for the full program can start with the requirements and RFP phase on its own. Companies that have already chosen can bring us in for implementation partner selection or an independent decision check before signing. After the decision, client-side program leadership through go-live is available to selection clients, and we take on program recovery when an implementation has stalled. We work with multi-plant, process and contract manufacturers, wholesale and route-based distributors, and medical device and pharmaceutical companies in validated GxP environments, usually at a decision point - an outgrown system, an end-of-support deadline such as Dynamics GP or Dynamics NAV, or a new owner after an acquisition or private equity investment. Platforms evaluated in recent selections include Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Acumatica, Epicor, Infor, IFS and Sage, with their implementation partners. All but one of the companies whose ERP selection we have led went on to implement the system they chose. The one exception was acquired before implementation began. John Hannan is an industrial engineer and former manufacturing operations leader who has worked in ERP since 2002. The firm, founded in 2020, has served more than 100 organizations across the United States and Canada from Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, working virtually with on-site visits for key milestones. Every engagement is led by John with senior associate consultants who come from operations, finance and IT.

Fast-track ERP selection for a multi-site industrial fabricator

Manufacturing (engineer-to-order and repeatable production across several US sites)
Challenge: A rapidly growing fabricator serving critical-infrastructure markets ran finance in QuickBooks and operations in spreadsheets, a CRM, CAD and PDM tools and site-specific shop-floor apps, with duplicate entry, inconsistent data and no cross-functional view of inventory, shortages or schedule status. Growth and a new facility put a hard deadline on the decision.
Solution: A fixed-scope selection program led by John Hannan LLC with the client’s own project team owning the decision. Business drivers were written down first, a formal RFP for software and implementation services went to market, four written responses were scored for fit, delivery readiness, commercial clarity and timeline credibility, and three finalists ran scripted demonstrations against the priority requirements, scored by the business-process owners who attended. A three-year total-cost-of-ownership matrix normalized very different quotes, and a decision document was written for the client to keep on file.
Result: IFS Cloud and its implementation partner selected on evidence, contracts executed within days of the recommendation, requirements to signed agreements in under three months, 5.6 percent under the hours budget, and a pre-implementation phase that set scope, data readiness, named owners and go-live criteria before kickoff. A specialty distributor’s ERP selection and transformation to go-live

Distribution (route-based food and beverage)
Challenge: A specialty distributor selling to retail customers through route sales representatives had outgrown systems that no longer talked to each other - order capture in the field, warehouse, routing, pricing and finance each lived somewhere different. Leadership wanted one platform, mobile tools the route team would actually use, and a finance and reporting foundation for growth, without stopping the trucks.
Solution: Requirements were built with the general managers, route sales, warehouse, purchasing, pricing, customer service and finance, and an RFP and scripted demonstrations used the company’s own routes and orders as the scenarios. After the decision, John Hannan LLC led the business-transformation program - a steering committee cadence the executives could read, end-to-end and user-acceptance testing sequenced so field processes were proven before training, a change-and-training plan in which the general managers trained their own route representatives, and a full mock cutover with reconciliation controls before the live one.
Result: Acumatica with a distribution-focused partner that brought mobile sales and delivery capability, chosen on scripted demonstrations rather than feature lists. The company went to go-live with a rehearsed cutover, reconciliation controls in place, a field workforce trained by its own managers and a hypercare model that hands support back to the client and the partner. ERP selection to implementation for a radiopharmaceutical start-up

Life Sciences (cGMP radiopharmaceutical manufacturing)
Challenge: A new radiopharmaceutical company was building its first manufacturing and distribution network from a standing start - new cGMP facilities, a product with a half-life measured in hours, and no ERP. A system of record had to be chosen, implemented and validated before commercial production, with a small team already stretched across construction, quality and regulatory work and none of the process history that usually informs a selection.
Solution: Requirements were built from the ground up with leadership and the functional leads, covering finance, procurement, GMP production, quality, inventory and license limits, capacity planning around radioactive decay, and distribution. A formal RFP went to a short list of platforms and partners with life sciences and process-manufacturing experience, among them Epicor, IFS and Microsoft Dynamics 365, with John Hannan LLC running vendor communications so the client team could stay on its build-out. Scripted demonstrations covered a production day, a batch record, a hold and release and a time-critical shipment, and scorecards, debriefs and total-cost-of-ownership analysis produced a recommendation the leadership team could defend to its board.
Result: A platform and partner combination that fit process-manufacturing and quality requirements without forcing enterprise-scale complexity onto a start-up. Selection became the beginning of the relationship - more than two years of client-side implementation and program support since, at a fraction of the cost of a full-time program team.
