Overview
EcoVadis is a Paris-based sustainability ratings and supply chain intelligence platform, founded in 2007. It rates the environmental, social and ethical performance of companies, and is used primarily by large enterprise procurement teams to assess and monitor their suppliers, and by suppliers themselves to obtain an independent sustainability credential they can share across their customer base. EcoVadis reports rating more than 175,000 companies across 180+ countries and 205 industries, and states it is trusted by 1,500+ global enterprise buyers.
The core Ratings product scores a company on a 0-100 scale across four themes -- Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement -- using an industry-specific questionnaire, AI-assisted document analysis, and validation by an in-house team of 500+ sustainability analysts. Scores above set percentile thresholds earn Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze medal recognition, with a Committed badge at the entry level. Because a supplier's scorecard can be shared across every customer requesting an EcoVadis rating, suppliers generally complete one assessment rather than a separate questionnaire per buyer.
Beyond the core rating, EcoVadis IQ (IQ Plus) maps ESG risk across a buyer's full supplier base, including suppliers who have not completed an assessment, using 21 risk criteria, aggregated public documents, and continuous monitoring of news sources, with compliance dashboards for regulations such as CSRD, CS3D and the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG). A Carbon Action Manager product collects supplier-level Scope 3 carbon data, and EcoVadis integrates with procurement and analytics platforms including SAP Ariba, Coupa, Ivalua, Celonis and Sievo so ratings and risk data can appear directly inside a buyer's existing sourcing tools.

How does EcoVadis score suppliers?

What is EcoVadis IQ?
