Overview

Litmos is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) used to deliver, track and report on training for employees, partners and customers. The product was built by Litmos (founded 2007), later acquired by CallidusCloud and folded into SAP when SAP bought CallidusCloud in 2018 — trading for years as "SAP Litmos." In December 2022, private equity firm Francisco Partners completed its acquisition of Litmos from SAP, and the product now operates as an independent company under the Litmos name, though the SAP Litmos name is still widely used and searched. Litmos reports serving 11,000+ organizations and over 30 million users across 150 countries.

The platform centers on a core LMS engine — SCORM/xAPI/AICC-compliant course delivery, certifications, compliance workflows and gamification — layered with "Litmos AI" features for course authoring, personalized content discovery, and AI/ML-based video assessment and tagging. A separate Data Services layer pushes learning data into enterprise BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Snowflake) so training metrics can be analyzed alongside HR and CRM data rather than staying siloed in the LMS.

Litmos extends beyond internal employee training into branded partner/channel and customer education portals, with certification tracks and e-commerce for paid content. It integrates with Workday, ADP and BambooHR for HR data sync, Salesforce for CRM-linked training, Microsoft Teams and Zoom for live sessions, and Okta / Microsoft Entra ID for SSO.

  • Direct connections to enterprise BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Snowflake) rather than only native LMS reporting
