Overview
Proficy Smart Factory (also sold as Proficy Plant Applications) is a manufacturing execution system from GE Vernova's software division (formerly GE Digital), built to run on the plant floor between automation/SCADA systems and the ERP layer. It is aimed at discrete, process and mixed manufacturing operations, and GE Vernova states the Proficy portfolio serves over 20,000 customers worldwide across industries such as aerospace and defense, automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and consumer packaged goods.
The platform tracks production orders, resources and materials in real time, enforces quality specifications and electronic work instructions at the point of use, and calculates OEE, downtime and performance analytics from shop-floor data. It also supports batch manufacturing with ISA-88 recipe management and electronic batch records, and provides electronic signatures and audit-ready records for regulated environments.
Proficy is offered as cloud (SaaS), on-premises, or hybrid deployments. On the ERP side, Proficy Plant Applications and Proficy Workflow are used to receive process/production orders from an ERP system, execute and track them on the shop floor, and send completion, consumption and quality data back to the ERP for financial and inventory reconciliation.
