Overview
Kount was an independent fraud-prevention company that Equifax acquired and has since folded into its Identity & Fraud product line, marketed today as "Payments Fraud on Kount 360." The platform evaluates card-not-present payment events in real time, scoring device, IP, location, and behavioral signals against Equifax's global data network to accept, block, or flag transactions before authorization.
Around that core fraud-scoring engine, Equifax has built out a broader payments-risk suite: Authorized Payment Protection targets Authorized Push Payment (APP) fraud in peer-to-peer and account-to-account rails, screening both origin and destination accounts; Chargeback Prevention unifies access to Ethoca Prevention Alerts, Verifi Cardholder Dispute Resolution Network alerts, Ethoca Consumer Clarity, Verifi Order Insight, and Visa's CE 3.0 / Rapid Dispute Resolution frameworks behind a single API; Chargeback Recovery automates dispute rebuttal and evidence-building; and Dispute Processing gives acquirers, processors, and merchants a shared portal for managing the dispute lifecycle.
Equifax positions the suite for merchants, acquirers, processors, and financial institutions that need to combine fraud prevention with chargeback and dispute operations, rather than run separate point tools for each.
