When NetSuite MRP Isn't Enough

NetSuite MRP is strong at material planning for make-to-stock and standard make-to-order manufacturing, but it is not an advanced planning and scheduling (APS) system out of the box. Its default supply planning assumes effectively infinite capacity — it schedules against lead times, not against a finite view of constrained work centers — so high-mix, capacity-constrained shops that need finite scheduling, real-time constraint optimization, or complex sequencing usually add the Advanced Manufacturing module or a specialist APS tool.
